AI is already changing the work.

AI systems write code, use software tools and carry out multi-step tasks. In some workplaces they save time. In others, checking and integrating their work consumes much of the gain.

Stanford researchers have found weaker hiring for young workers in AI-exposed US occupations. They caution that this pattern does not prove AI caused it. Across the economy, the effects are still uneven.

AI 2027 projects that these tools could accelerate development of more capable AI. That is one route from here. The other branches test wider adoption and slower integration.
